Luke Watson SFPL Owner, Managing Director, Senior Service Engineer

Luke (pictured here back when he was training to be sprinkler service engineer, age 16), started out on his career in the fire protection industry straight from school. Within 3 years he became a Team Leader for a company that had several national sprinkler and dry riser maintenance contracts.  Now he has over 5 years’ experience maintaining commercial and residential sprinkler systems and is fully competent to maintain a range of systems, including:

  • Wet, Dry & Alternate Sprinkler Systems (including suction-lift pumps)
  • Wet & Dry Riser Systems
  • Hydrant Systems
  • Commercial & Residential Pipework Installation & Repairs (certificated CPVC installer)

Guy Watson SFPL

Guy was time-served aircraft airframe & engine fitter working in the Netherlands, when his father Barry invited him to come and work for his new company. Guy gained valuable knowledge of the fire sprinkler industry, as he worked his way up through the business, starting on the tools as a service engineer, before progressing to service manager, looking after national contracts. He gained his LPC design qualifications, which was instrumental in the company gaining LPS1048 Level 4 certification. He then followed in Barry’s footsteps by going to work for Wormald, where he designed Special Risk systems for large pharmacutical companies.

The next step in Guy’s carrer was to move in to property insurance, where he surveyed sprinkler systems for underwriters. He was then promoted to Senior Risk Engineer, where he specified and evaluated fire protection systems for global companies such as Ford and Jaguar Land Rover.

Guy (pictured here training engineers in Dubai), is currently employed full time as a Technical Director for a fire sprinkler manufacturer as well as being a mentor to his son Luke, and the team of SFP engineers.

Barry WatsonSFPL

Barry started out in the sprinkler industy in the 1970’s with Mather & Platt, before moving to Wormald (he is pictured here commisioning fire sprinkler pumps for one of their projects in The Sudan). In the 1980’s he formed his own sprinkler installation company, which gained LPS1048 Level 4 Certification.  Barry is not directly involved with SFP but he is our genesis, and we are proud that we can still call on him for guidance and advice.
